Hummingbird Feeder!

Today we made a super sweet hummingbird feeder out of a wine bottle! The idea is to steal all the hummingbirds from Casey and Kayla's neighbor's feeders. Check it out!

BEER

We are drinking our last KBC beer! Gladly it is a Lift Bridge Brown. More on local breweries later.

Hello Everybody.

Sorry there hasn't been any posts lately. We're still in Silverthorne, CO hanging out with Kayla and Casey. We've run into a few people I used to bike with in Marquette, which is very cool. They took all of us biking the other day on a seriously fun trail. Adam is a faster biker than me and he's only been biking a few times... but that makes me happy. Its really kind of weird how many yoopers are out here in the same general area. Other than that we've just been hiking and biking and taking it easy.
Oh yeah, Tom and D - The peach porter was definitely the smoked pumpkin (ham) beer, unless you smoked your peaches maybe...? It was good with tacos! There really wasn't a peach or porter flavor I could find. Maybe they were in the same bottle and the smokeyness stuck to the glass.. I don't know. Thank you regardless.
The mountain pine beetle is eating all of Colorado's trees! There are twice, if not three times as many dead trees as there are live ones. Its kind of sad to look at actually. When fire comes through this place, everything will be gone!

WE ARE IN SILVERTHORNE CO!!

We made it to Kayla and Casey's house in Silverthorne, CO. The elevation is absolutely killing me. I feel pretty sick and shaky truthfully. Adam and Marley seem to be doing just fine though. We drove through Wyoming today and the wind was gusting to 50mph, shaking the van, flipping semis. It was pretty scary and really bad for gas mileage. We also went to Devil's Tower this morning. It was cool, but it poured rain on us.

econolodge update

We are currently camped out in wyoming near devils tower and I am reporting via cell phone so the pictures will come soon. We spent a night in Kilen Woods State Park in MN, which was really nice and quiet although it did continue to rain. We got to take a short trail ride on our bikes near the Missouri River. The rain was finally gone in the morning and we headed to South Dakota. We stopped to have a beer at a tiny tavern in the Black Hills. When we walked in we were greeted by a bunch of bikers silently staring us down as we approached the bar. To our delight, one of the biker girls noticed Adam's "some place special" UP shirt and struck up a conversation about how she was born and raised there until she moved to vegas... With the awkward silence broken we enjoyed a New Belgium 1554 for 2.25 a piece. We spent the night off a random road in the Black Hills National Forest. There were cattle roaming all through the woods and it drove Marley wild. Today we were tourists for a bit and went to Mount Rushmore. We also went for a bike ride in the Black Hills where we discovered how much we enjoy our Michigan oxygen! I'm pretty sure we nearly died. Adam also flatted on the really fun downhill. So here we are, in the van, Adam playin guitar, I, his only fan, sipping wine and feeling more than fine.

The Econolodge Adventures have officially begun!

Yesterday we finally set sail. After the work shown on the last post we found out our head gaskets were bad and about 100 miles from blowing the entire engine. Chad did the work again for us, thankfully, and got her tuned up and running like a champ. We spent most of the week in Ishpeming putting in a tile floor for Adam's mom and Dino avoiding the "aren't you supposed to be gone yet?" "why are you still here?" questions from everyone!!
We are now in Rochester, MN at Heather and Luke's (Adam's sister and brother-in-law). The weather is still beyond crappy and still postponing things we need to do to the outside of our van that need dry, warm weather.
OH YEAH! I got a new bike on Friday finally!!!! She's a beaut.
We've had nothing but rain, postponed packages, and breakdowns since we've tried to start this trip. The stress level has been through the roof, but I guess that its the darkest before the dawn and man am I ever ready for the dawn.

"Day 1"

Well of course something had to happen on the day we were supposed to leave. It turned out to be rather serious engine trouble. Here are some pictures of the engine Adam and Chad worked on the day after "day 1".

$20 TO TRANSFER PHONE NUMBERS!!!!

We downgraded to one phone and upgraded to a new phone. However, Verizon charges $20 to transfer all contacts to a new phone, but it can be "easily" done on your person computer they say. So I tried it and.....I DELETED EVERY CONTACT!!! And we are leaving tomorrow. This send off is anything but smooth. The rain doesn't help. Please post your name and phone number on here or email it to me (jebourgo@mtu.edu) because this couldn't have come at a worse time.
Thanks.
Jamie & Adam
