2 day camping on the Pecos River

We spent 2 days camping out by the Pecos River in New Mexico. We never bought a fold up table for the van so we needed to improvise. We chopped up dead trees with our hatchet and roped them together! It rained every day that we were in New Mexico. Our second camping day it poured and hailed for more than three hours! A river flowed under the van, soaking all the stuff we thought we set in a safe place. After the rain passed it was super cold out so we decided to start a fire. We gathered a bunch of wet wood and our paper garbage. It was barely catching so we decided we could sacrifice our table because that stayed dry and then we had smores. We filtered water for the first time on this trip from that river.
